Elevador da Gloria for steep streets One of the best ways to get to know the city is by trying out some tramlines. Lisbon still has a few old cars running through its small streets. They seem to belong to a lost era and are really popular amongst both tourists and locals. A large bus system connects all main attractions, that are not reachable by trams. Using the subway is a lot faster, but the view is of course not that fascinating and the recent subway net does first of all lead to the suburbs: neither the airport nor the main train stations or Belem are connected with it. You should actually use the metro for the beautifull tile decorations in the stations by Lisbon, sights:Maria Keil.
